Did not get the job that I applied for back in April out at the UC. Did not even get a no thank you post card or email (which is one of two ways that the automated reply said I would be notified). I'm a bit bummed of course.

On top of that, my boss at the law office found out that my coworker B has been applying to other jobs and found an old application printed out (and only because the garbage divers went through our old garbage and it was out on the sidewalk). He was of course a bit pissy for the next few days. After B spoke with him regarding the situation, which I have no idea what was discussed, everything is back to normal.

But the whole situation could easily have been me, I think. I don't check other jobs at work of course, but the situation was just so eerily close to mine, that I was of course weirded out.

I will still be applying to other jobs. I've been with both part time jobs for 6 and 5 years respectively, and its time I found something full time with benefits. I can't keep working two part time jobs, with no health benefits, constantly worried that if I have too much money in savings, i.e. anything over a few hundred, they'll kick me off medi-cal, and I won't have anything to fall back on if the baby monster should get sick.

There have been a few positions which have opened up at the UC, and I know there are a few at the local community college. Its just still so weird to be applying for jobs while I still have one, and at the same time, keeping it all on the down low so that it doesn't cause any weird tension at the office.
